Frequently Asked Questions?

When can I come to the library?

SVMS's Media Center is open to all students during school hours if they have a pass from their teacher. Students come with their Reading/Communication Skills teacher on a fixed day to check out and return books.

How do I check out a book?

Students use their student ID # to check out books. Students may not check out books if they owe fines or have overdue books. Students are allowed to check out two books at a time.

How long can I keep the books I check out?

The circulation period is two weeks. If students finish reading the book sooner, they may return it early; if students need a book for more than two weeks they may bring it in to renew it.

How can I use the library computers?

The library computers for research are located upstairs. Teachers sign up to bring classes to the upstairs Media Center to do research.  Students are not allowed to be in the upstairs Media Center without a teacher.  Students must have an Internet Permission Form signed to be on computers.

May I print?

Only school work or school related research may be printed. Students must get permission before printing. Internet users must copy, cut, and paste to a Word program before printing material from the Internet.

May I pass through the library to get from class to class?

Absolutely not! The library is not a hallway or a shortcut.
